Robotic Glove Rehabilitation: A Guide to 9 Clinical Studies

0 commentaire

This source-linked reading list brings together nine clinical studies on robotic glove rehabilitation and related mirror-training approaches. Study sizes, stroke stages, devices and comparison treatments differ, so the findings should not be pooled into a single promise of recovery.

How to read the evidence

Randomized comparisons, small pilot investigations and single-patient reports answer different questions. Check what was tested alongside the device, which outcomes changed, and whether follow-up extended beyond treatment. This is a selected reading list, not a systematic review or a model-by-model product ranking.

01. Acute stroke: robotic hand-assisted training

Randomized trial · 30 participants

A small eight-week trial compared robotic hand-assisted rehabilitation plus conventional therapy with conventional therapy alone. Reported benefits concerned selected dexterity and daily-activity outcomes; the trial did not measure how quickly recovery occurred.

Interpretation: Small sample, short follow-up and retrospective trial registration limit interpretation.

The publication year is 2026, despite the 2025 string in the DOI and the older internal article URL.

02. Chronic stroke: soft robotic glove versus mirror therapy

Randomized trial · 49 participants · six-month follow-up

Participants with chronic stroke received an eight-week intervention, with conventional rehabilitation in both groups. The study reported advantages for selected hand outcomes in the glove group and followed participants for six months.

Interpretation: The enrolled population and combined rehabilitation programme matter; the results do not establish equivalence across glove models.

03. Subacute stroke: two robotic mirror-training modes

Randomized trial · 24 participants

Both groups used the SY-HRE12 glove: one used mirroring, the other pre-programmed passive movements. The authors reported between-group differences in neglect and depression measures.

Interpretation: This was a 24-person comparison of two robot-assisted modes, not a comparison with an ordinary mirror box.

04. Hand function: robotic training with conventional physiotherapy

Randomized trial · 30 participants

The trial compared conventional physiotherapy plus robot-assisted mirror training with conventional physiotherapy. Grip strength and motor-function scores were among the reported outcomes.

Interpretation: The combined intervention cannot establish the effect of a glove used alone; the abstract does not identify a specific retail model.

05. Early subacute stroke: SY-HR03E pilot investigation

Single-blind pilot randomized trial · 20 inpatients

A small inpatient pilot reported preliminary hand-function and daily-living signals. Its accepted early-release status, limited sample and manufacturer-affiliated co-author should be considered.

Interpretation: It does not establish home-use feasibility or a general safety guarantee.

06. Robotic glove combined with electroacupuncture

Four-group study · reported enrolment of 200 participants

This reference concerns glove training, electroacupuncture and their combination. The citation and study outline were cross-checked against bibliographic and abstract records; the original full text was not reviewed for this reading list.

Interpretation: Study-defined response rates are not an individual's probability of recovery. No numerical treatment-effect estimate is reproduced here.

07. MCA infarction: one patient's glove rehabilitation

Single-patient case report

The report describes rehabilitation involving a Syrebo glove for one person after an MCA infarction. It offers a clinical account rather than a controlled estimate of treatment effect.

Interpretation: A single case cannot separate treatment effects from other care or predict outcomes in other patients.

08. Innovative mirror therapy after stroke

Randomized study · 60 participants · four weeks

Both groups received conventional rehabilitation alongside innovative or traditional mirror therapy. The authors reported greater changes in selected upper-limb and daily-living measures with the innovative approach.

Interpretation: Four-week results do not establish lasting benefit. Product photographs alone do not establish which model was tested.

09. Faradic stimulation with Syrebo C-12

Single-patient combined-intervention case report

One case describes faradic stimulation combined with Syrebo C-12 hand training. The authors reported improved activity, but the combined uncontrolled programme cannot isolate either intervention's effect.

Interpretation: This is not a comparison trial or a prediction of another person's outcome.

Discussing research with your rehabilitation team

Ask whether a study's participants, stage after stroke, training setting and measured goals resemble your circumstances. Inpatient results do not automatically transfer to unsupervised home practice. A clinician can help assess suitability and choose an individualized programme.
