Syrebo Active Foot Drop Brace for Walking Support

This non-powered AFO-style brace uses two manual adjustment knobs and dual-side steel cords to provide adjustable upward support at the front of the foot. The ankle cuff, support plates and shoe hooks are designed to support foot positioning during walking after stroke or other causes of foot drop. It does not use functional electrical stimulation (FES) and does not treat the cause of foot drop.

What makes this foot drop brace different?

  • Dual-side forefoot support: Steel cords connect both sides of the ankle cuff to the shoe so the upward pull can be balanced.
  • Two manual adjustments: One knob adjusts cable tension, while the second knob changes ankle-position support.
  • Press, turn and release: Press and turn the cable-tension knob to tighten the cords; pull the knob up to loosen them.
  • Lightweight construction: The brace weighs approximately 80 g and uses a soft nylon cuff with hook-and-loop fastening.
  • Made for use with footwear: The hooks can attach to suitable shoe eyelets. The included punch and hardware can add attachment points to some other suitable shoe uppers.

How to put on and adjust the brace

  1. Wrap the cuff around the lower leg above the ankle and fasten the hook-and-loop strap so it feels secure, not painfully tight.
  2. Attach the two cord hooks to suitable shoe eyelets. If the shoe has no usable eyelets, follow the included instructions before using the punch and hardware to add attachment points to a suitable shoe upper.
  3. Press and turn the cable-tension knob gradually until the front of the foot has the desired upward support.
  4. Use the ankle-position knob gradually to balance the support. Pull the cable-tension knob up when you need to loosen the cords.
  5. Test the fit indoors with support before longer walking. Stop if the brace causes pain, numbness, swelling, skin irritation or a change in skin color.

Is this an electrical stimulation or FES device?

No. This is a mechanical, non-powered brace. It uses manually adjusted cords to support the foot; it does not send electrical pulses to a nerve or muscle.

Can this brace be used after a stroke?

An AFO-style brace may be included in a clinician-directed plan for foot drop after stroke. Suitability depends on walking ability, ankle position, muscle tone, skin condition and sensation. The American Stroke Association explains foot drop after stroke; ask a physical therapist, orthotist or other qualified clinician which type of support is appropriate for you.

Does it work with every shoe?

No single brace can be guaranteed to fit every shoe. This design works most directly with suitable eyelets. Some other shoe uppers may accept the included hooks after holes are added, but this permanently alters the shoe and may not be suitable for thin, fragile or loosely fitting footwear.

Can the brace correct foot inversion or eversion?

The left and right cords can be balanced to support inward or outward foot positioning while lifting the forefoot. It does not permanently correct a medical condition. Ask a clinician to check alignment if the foot rolls strongly inward or outward.

Will it cure foot drop or prevent falls?

No. The brace provides positioning support and does not treat the underlying cause of foot drop or guarantee fall prevention. New or worsening foot drop should be assessed by a healthcare professional.

Safety note: Do not use the brace over broken skin or with a fit that causes pressure, pain or circulation changes. Seek professional advice before use if you have reduced sensation, circulation problems, a recent injury or surgery, severe stiffness, or an uncertain cause of foot drop.

Q: What are the contraindications for using the Syrebo hand function rehabilitation robot?

A: Before training, please confirm whether the affected hand is in a stiff state. If it is stiff, manual massage and hot compress should be performed first, and training can only be carried out when the affected hand becomes soft. Do not give it to unconscious people or young children for use alone. If the hand has sprains, trauma, unknown bone injuries, severe osteoporosis, untreated fractures or fractures that require immobilization after treatment, do not use this product without confirmation by professionals.
